Salina, KS

Community Hospitality Healthcare Services invested $18 million of New Markets Tax Credit allocation in Salina Family Healthcare Center, to finance a new replacement Federally Qualified Health Center and rural provider training hub in Salina, Kansas. The investment expands primary care, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services, along with SFHC’s residency programs, in a non-metropolitan community where over 48% of low-income residents lack access to a Health Center.

Central to the project are SFHC’s two residency programs, which serve as a crucial regional training hub for the next generation of rural healthcare providers. The new facility will house an expanded Smoky Hill Family Medicine Residency Program, growing from 15 to 18 residents in a 6-6-6 format, alongside an expanded Salina Family Pharmacy Residency Program. With 90% of graduates continuing to serve in rural Kansas, the expansion directly addresses persistent provider shortages across the five-county service area.  The new facility will feature 34 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, 16 dental operatories with a dedicated dental training area, an expanded 3,400 square foot pharmacy with a two-lane drive-thru and infusion preparation suite, and integrated behavioral health consult spaces designed to support coordinated care.
